2007 Grant Statement
The
M. Patricia Cronin Foundation to Fight Ovarian Cancer (the Foundation)
is inviting prospective applicants
to submit Grant Letters and Applications
to the Foundation by May 12, 2007. The mission of
the Foundation is to provide support to ovarian cancer patients and
their
friends and
families, to increase public awareness of ovarian cancer and to promote
research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.
The Foundation is a founding member of the Ovarian Cancer Awareness
Coalition, an alliance between the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition,
the Mass General
Cancer Center and the Ovarian Cancer Education and Awareness Network
at Mass General Hospital (OCEAN). The Coalition promotes awareness
of ovarian cancer, its symptoms and treatment through a high level
of activities
each September, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. You can learn more
about the campaign at www.OvarianCancerAwareness.org.
A copy of the Cronin Foundation’s mission statement and list
of Board and Advisory Committee Members is available on the Foundation’s
web site, http://www.patsfriends.com/.
The Foundation Grant Procedures describe the information that applicants
are required to provide. They are also posted on the web site. The Foundation
has awarded four rounds of grants. Typically, these grants range from
$2,000 to ovarian cancer support groups to between $5,000 to $20,000
for research into causes and treatment of ovarian cancer patients. At
this time, we anticipate awarding between $10,000 and $20,000 in grants
in 2006. A letter of interest, project description and financial information
are required of all applicants. The Board of Directors determines the
number of grants to be awarded based on the quality of the proposals
and the fiscal status of the Foundation.
A Committee of the Board of
Directors will review the grant applications in conjunction with technical
and professional experts in several categories.
